Restaurant City Reborn

Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 August 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of this Restaurant City Reborn server (the "Service"), operated by the Restaurant City Reborn project ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Service is a fan-run revival of the 2010 game Restaurant City, provided for non-commercial preservation and play. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the game's original owners (Playfish / Electronic Arts). The Service may be added to, changed, or have features removed at any time.

2. Accounts

  • You need an account to play: a unique username, a first and last name, and a 6–12 digit PIN. Your PIN is stored only as a salted, one-way hash — we cannot read it.
  • You must provide accurate account information and keep your PIN secret. You are responsible for all activity on your account.
  • One account per person, unless we say otherwise. Do not share accounts or let others use your credentials.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

3. Acceptable use

When using the Service you must not:

  • exploit bugs, glitches, or errors, or use them to gain an unfair advantage;
  • automate gameplay (bots, scripts, or macros) without our permission;
  • interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its servers, or other users' data;
  • evade restrictions, bans, or other enforcement measures;
  • impersonate other people, the operator, or the original rights holders;
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or redistribute the game's content commercially.

4. Virtual items and currency

Coins, gourmet points, items, and other in-game content have no real-world monetary value. They cannot be redeemed for money and are not transferable except through normal in-game mechanics. We may correct balances, inventory, or other data to fix errors or abuse.

5. Availability and changes

The Service is provided on an "as available" basis and may be paused for maintenance. We may suspend, restrict, or end the Service, in whole or for individual users, with reasonable notice where practical. Saved data may be lost if the Service ends.

6. Enforcement

We may warn users, remove content, restrict accounts, or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or the Community Guidelines. Serious or repeated violations may result in termination without warning. We may report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.

7. Intellectual property

The original game, its assets, and its data remain the property of their owners (Playfish / Electronic Arts) and are used here only for preservation and personal play. This project is not affiliated with them. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the Service for personal, non-commercial play. Your own content (such as your restaurant layout) remains yours, and you grant us the right to store and display it as needed to operate the Service.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, uninterrupted operation, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the Service will always work, or that it will perfectly match the original game.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including fraud and death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. We encourage you to raise concerns with us first through the contact details below, and we will try to resolve them informally.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with its date. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Contact

You can reach the operator through the Service itself: use in-game mail to contact us from your account, or ask the server administrator through the dashboard. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data this Restaurant City Reborn server (the "Service"), operated by the Restaurant City Reborn project ("we", "us", "our"), collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

Account information

  • Username, first name, and last name.
  • Your PIN — stored only as a salted scrypt hash, so we cannot read or recover it.

Gameplay data

  • Your profile and progress: owned items and restaurant layout, inventory, ingredients, garden, floors, employees, mail, friends, rankings, notifications, game events, stored images, and cash transactions. This is what lets us save and restore your game.

Session and security data

  • A session cookie (rc_session) and the SHA-256 hash of your session token, plus CSRF tokens used to protect state-changing requests.
  • Your IP address and user agent, collected when you use the Service.

Operational logs

  • Request records (method, path, status) held in a bounded in-memory buffer (500 entries by default) and a local log file. These power the operator dashboard and are used for debugging and abuse detection.

2. How we use your data

  • To authenticate you and keep you signed in;
  • to save, restore, and display your gameplay;
  • to provide support and respond to your requests;
  • to prevent abuse, detect fraud, and keep the Service secure;
  • to operate, monitor, and improve the Service.

3. Legal bases

We process your data to perform our contract with you (these Terms), to pursue our legitimate interests in running a secure and reliable service, and, where required by applicable law, on the basis of your consent.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only:

  • with service providers who host or operate components of the Service, only as necessary to run it;
  • when required by law, regulation, or legal process;
  • to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Service, our users, or others;
  • in connection with a transfer of ownership of the Service.

5. Cookies

We use one essential session cookie (rc_session) to keep you signed in. It is not used for advertising or tracking. See the Cookie Policy for details.

6. Retention

  • Session cookie: expires after 30 days or when you log out.
  • Session records: expire after 30 days.
  • Request-log buffer: capped (500 entries by default); older entries are discarded.
  • Account and gameplay data: kept while your account is active, and for up to 30 days after you request deletion, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve disputes or abuse.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it. To exercise these rights, contact us through the Service (in-game mail or your account). We will respond within 30 days. You may also request that your account and its data be deleted.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use security measures appropriate to a small self-hosted service: PINs are hashed with scrypt and salted, session cookies are HttpOnly and SameSite, session tokens are stored as SHA-256 hashes, and state-changing requests require CSRF tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Your data is stored on the server(s) operated by us. Where we use hosting providers, data may be transferred only as needed to run the Service and under appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with its date. Material changes will be announced through the Service where practical.

12. Contact

To exercise your rights or ask a privacy question, contact us through the Service (in-game mail or your account), or ask the server administrator through the dashboard.

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2 August 2026

What we use

This Service uses exactly one cookie: rc_session. It is an essential session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects your account. It is:

  • HttpOnly — not readable by scripts;
  • SameSite=Lax — not sent with cross-site requests;
  • set to expire after 30 days, or immediately when you log out;
  • marked Secure when the Service is served over HTTPS.

What we do not use

  • No advertising cookies.
  • No analytics or tracking cookies.
  • No third-party cookies.

Managing cookies

You can log out to end your session immediately, or delete cookies in your browser settings. Without the session cookie you will not stay signed in; the rest of the Service still works.

Changes

If this Cookie Policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with its date.

Community Guidelines

Last updated: 2 August 2026

These guidelines keep Restaurant City friendly and safe. By using the Service you agree to follow them, alongside the Terms of Service.

Be respectful

Do not harass, threaten, bully, or discriminate against other players. No hateful, abusive, or sexually explicit content.

Protect privacy

Do not share other people's personal information, including real names, addresses, or contact details, without their permission.

No impersonation

Do not pretend to be someone else, a member of staff, or the original rights holders (Playfish / Electronic Arts).

Play fairly

Do not cheat, exploit bugs, use bots or other automation, or otherwise interfere with the game or other players' experience.

No harmful content

Do not post illegal content, malware, phishing links, or anything that could harm other users or the Service.

Report, don't abuse

If you find a security issue or a bug, report it privately to the operator instead of publishing or exploiting it.

Enforcement

Violations may lead to content removal, temporary restrictions, or account termination. If you believe a decision was made in error, contact us through the Service to appeal.
